Citroen reunites the DS with the Concorde

Citroen has recently rolled out the third installment in its revival of the DS name.  The DS5 is that largest of the trio, and it is arguably the closest in resemblance to the beautifully quirky classic Citroen DS.  This is possibly why it was chosen for a photo shoot with the Concorde aircraft in the spirit of one taken decades before.

The original photo shoot was about merging two French style and technology icons.  This new one has a little more of a marketing feel behind it as Citroen is quick to mention all the aircraft inspired touches on the DS5.  The pilot-style overhead switches and a heads-up display are nice features, but we doubt the largest engine available (1.6-liter making 197 hp) is rated for supersonic speeds.  Still, the DS5 looks pretty cool as it is parked next to an Air France Concorde and one of the Concorde prototypes at the French Air and Space Museum on the Le Bourget Airport grounds (yup, that’s where Lindbergh landed.)

We do not really have any news to report on the DS5.  This is just one of those great stylistic French photo shoots, and we wanted to share.  Just like how magazines send supermodels to tropical locations as a good excuse to get time into a bikini, we have no arguments about Citroen setting up the DS5 near a few Concords for some glamour shots.

See all the photos of both the new DS5 and the classic DS using the Concorde as a backdrop in the full photo gallery.
