The Nürburgring is bankrupt.
This should not be a surprise to those who have been following the story. Bad ideas, bad management, and bad loans sent the people’s track on a collision course long ago, and now it is arriving at its final consequence. We could go into the full details, but it is best to read it directly from the man at the epicenter, Mike Frison.
The best we can do right now is look at this as an opportunity for hope. By being bankrupt, the Ring has a chance to be reorganized under a very public eye. This means some of the greed that caused this situation (such as building a theme park around the racetrack) will likely not be tolerated. Remember, the Nürburgring is a public road, and if we’re all lucky, at the end of the day it will stay that way.
