McLaren is going for more 12C sales by offering customers a version with less…that is less roof. The company has officially announced the 12C Spider and released one teaser image.
Not too much is known about the car other than it will receive the same upgraded 3.8-liter 616 hp twin turbo V8 that was recently announced for the MP4 12C.
Is it a folding hard top? Maybe a targa? What’s the increase in price? When does it hit dealers? All these important questions and others were skipped. Instead McLaren let their race driver Jenson Button describe how he feels driving with the top down — trust us when we say that we’re doing the right thing by not posting that video.
A topless McLaren 12C is a car that we always knew was coming. So to McLaren’s credit, they are not dragging out the reveal for weeks or months, and the full car will be shown in a few days when the McLaren begins taking orders on the 12C Spider.
While some may have been hoping that this tease was just to run up to a reveal at Goodwood this weekend, we actually have to wait slightly longer for more information. McLaren will have the official unveil on July 3rd.
