In the days before CGI faked all the stunts advertisers had to get a little more creative. So when Datsun (Nissan) wanted to get extreme (yes kids, we still spell the word with three “e”s) it had to park a car on top of a roller coaster and simply get creative with the camera angles. Throw in a few cross fades, and voilà! Extreme before it was Xtreme:
Today it would be hard to watch an advertisement like this because the screen would be filled with disclaimers about not treating your car to an evening at Six Flag. Then again, Nissan has been up to more extreme (Xtreme) shenanigans lately, and the fine print treats us like we have some common sense:
